When we interviewed doulas, I worried about ending up with someone who would push me towards the birth she wanted, rather than listening to what I needed. Our experience with Sue was completely the reverse: she took the lead from us, occasionally prompted us with pertinent questions, advocated for us, and got along really well with the nursing staff. She was also terrific at helping my husband feel like an active partner in the birth, not just some dude who might pass out and obstruct the nurses.
Following a long and difficult delivery, Sue was there with encouraging words and practical help, and she continued to check in with us over the following days and weeks. Next to the safe arrival of our son, Sue’s presence was the most positive thing about our birth experience."

"When I enlisted the services of Sue, I was unsure how a doula would work. I was pregnant with my second and wanted a more fullfilling experience than my first. (c-section) I was right!! It was very important to me to try a vaginal birth. Sue helped me achieve that goal! She was always available by phone and answered all my questions. When I went past due she offered suggestions to facilitate my labour and contractions. Once I was checked into the hospital, she never left my side. She helped me and my husband during labour with relaxation techinques breathing and laughter!! My vaginal birth was a success and I could not have done it without her. I would recommend her to anyone!! Her kind smile, calming voice and straight forward responses kept me sane!"

"Words cannot express the gratitude we have for Sue's support and encouragement through the delivery of our twin sons. It was also Sue's first twin birth as a doula, and that was exciting for all of us! From our very first meeting she was completely on board with us in our hopes for as natural a labour and delivery as possible. Sue came to our home immediately after I went into labour and accompanied us to the hospital. She never left my side for the entire ordeal and she was a source of strength for both me and my husband. Sue encouraged and praised my efforts and made me believe in myself, and that I really could deliver twins naturally. Because I was considered a "high risk" pregnancy, there was much pressure for intervention. Sue guided us through it all, ultimately leaving the decision up to me, but giving me the advice that because everything was progressing well and the babies were doing great that intervention was not a necessary action at that time. This is what my husband and I needed most, a constant clear-headed approach from someone who could see the benefits of both sides. Through her patience and encouragement, I was able to deliver two beautiful, healthy baby boys completely naturally. It was beyond a joy to have Sue as our doula, and to this day, my husband and I agree that things would not have gone that smoothly if it hadn't been for Sue! Thank you and we love you!"

We're not sure what my husband and I would've done without Susan during my pregnancy and the birth of our second daughter via VBAC! She wouldn't let me give up hope that it really was going to work out the way I wanted it too. I just had to ENVISION it and it would happen. And sure enough it did!! I am still, to this day ecstatic that Sue coached a 10 1/2lb baby girl out via VBAC. Her positive words and her wisdom made both my husband and I very confident people and I tell our baby girl everyday that she made mommy a believer!!! as did Sue :) Because of this wonderful experience I myself would someday love to "Pay it Forward" and become a Doula too. P.S. The only thing I'm disappointed with is that we didn't take more pictures of Sue with our baby. =) Thank you Sue! ((((HUGS)))
