I am a foolish Newfoundlander married to a guy from Ontario who talks more like a Newfie than me. We have five red headed boys and we are always on the go. I served in the Canadian Forces for twenty years and have recently retired. I have been involved with pregnant and nursing mothers and their families for over 15 years. I have taught over 500 couples and attended over 230 deliveries....and counting. My life is pretty crazy sometimes but if I had to do it all over again I wouldn't change a thing.
I did my doula traing through DONA (1999) and CAPPA (2003). I achieved my Birth Doula Certification through CAPPA in 2004. I recently completed workshop 1 and 2 of Fertility Management (Billings Ovulation) and I am working towards accreditation. I have been teaching Prenatal Classes at Childbirth Kingston for over 15 years. I also serve on their Board of Directors. I have done various courses over the years in Human Anatomy, Nutrition, Psychology and Women`s Studies.
I have experience in unmedicated and medicated births, VBAC, Cesarean, homebirths, waterbirths, multiples, same sex couples, and I have an extensive range of breastfeeding knowledge.
Pregnancy, birth and parenting bring with them enormous physical, emotional and mental changes. I am a huge believer in fate and a positive attitude. Women need to trust their bodies and believe in themselves. Birth is a natural process.
